"Dear Lagos"

"Dear Lagos"

Invites participants to write letters directly to government institutions, expressing their lived experiences of the city and outlining the changes they want to see. The workshop will bring intertwine art, writing, and civic engagement, using letter-writing as a creative and political tool.
Offering participants a moment to pause, reflect, and speak back to the city, the workshop aims to reframe letter-writing not as a bureaucratic formality, but as a space of critical intimacy between citizens and the structures that govern them. Participants will be encouraged to write about everyday realities of Lagos from flooding, housing, traffic, electricity, and sanitation to public safety, access to public space, and environmental concerns and provide alternative visions for the city. Each letter will be treated as a situated artwork which is rooted in personal experience yet collectively resonant. The workshop will create a temporary commons where participants reflect on their relationship to the city, what it gives, what it withholds, and what must urgently change.
