"

I’m always drawn to Alliance Française for its thoughtful presentations, to Soto Gallery for the calm it offers, and to Nahous for its taste and variety, which never fails to steal my heart.

"

What excites me most about Nigerian art today isn’t wishful thinking anymore; it’s a reality I can already see. New galleries are investing in emerging artists, research-driven projects, and revitalised histories, raising the standard of presentation and moving decisively away from mediocrity. I can imagine a future where Nigerian art is a destination in its own right, a scene so alive that missing it sparks real FOMO. Lagos Gallery Weekend is making that future tangible, building a bridge between information, access, and opportunity, and connecting art lovers, collectors, and artists in ways that have long been overdue.

Mr Waduud’s Route

I usually start my visits at Alliance Française, a cultural hub in the heart of Ikoyi, where exhibitions and events connect Nigerian creativity with global perspectives. From there, I move to SOTO Gallery, a serene and welcoming space where contemporary works and immersive conversations with emerging artists allow for a deeper, more reflective experience. I end at Nahous in the Federal Palace, a space brimming with art, fashion, and culture, where the exhibitions pulse with community and creative energy, perfectly capturing the spirit of Lagos. It’s a visit I never skip.
