O’DA Art is a contemporary art gallery based in Lagos, Nigeria, dedicated to amplifying African and diasporic voices within the global cultural landscape. Founded in 2021 by Obida Obioha, the gallery emerged from a passion for collecting and a belief in the power of beauty as both a curatorial principle and a transformative force.
From its inception, O’DA has distinguished itself with a clear focus on portraiture, figuration, and the evolving visual languages of identity and community. The gallery represents a new generation of artists whose practices span painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media, while also embracing collaborations with musicians, designers, and thinkers. This
cross-disciplinary ethos blurs the boundaries between art and broader cultural practice, positioning O’DA as more than a white cube — it is a site of dialogue, reflection, and renewal.
Located in Victoria Island, Lagos, O’DA has become a vibrant meeting point for local and international audiences. Its exhibitions are curated with depth and intentionality, exploring urgent themes around memory, belonging, spirituality, and lived Black experience, while remaining committed to creating spaces of respite and connection.
In just a few years, O’DA has participated in international art fairs, published critical writing, and mounted ambitious exhibitions that have resonated with collectors, curators, and institutions alike. Recent highlights include Black Figuration Is Alive and Well (2025), a landmark group exhibition gathering 16 artists redefining portraiture and figuration, and Marks of Our Future Past, the first solo exhibition of Nigerian artist Soji Adesina.
At its core, O’DA Art is driven by the conviction that beauty is not superficial, but essential — a healing principle capable of elevating daily life, nurturing community, and shaping contemporary discourse.
